Since I have powered up the heating for winter I have experienced the following issue. When running the heating if you turn on a hot water tap anywhere in the house the boiler makes a whistling/humming sound. However if you switch the heating off and straight back on again it stops, you can run heating or hot water independently of each other but the problem rears it head when both of them are running together, any help appreciated...

probably the washer in the reversing valve is spinning. Its a fairly common problem on this boiler. Its a problem that in an ideal situation can be sorted for very little cost and with not to much time. However, finding an engineer who a) properly understands this particular make of boiler, enough to carry out this repair and b) would be willing to actually work on it, will be a massive task in itself! You might be better off living with the problem to be honest.
