Hi dazz

This is a melamine worktop and the melamine coating is very thin and therefore polishing or abrading it out just won't work. Assuming that you don't have access to a melamine finish such as Chestnut Melamine Lacquer you'll probably find that the scratch can be disguised with a clear nail varnish applied sparingly - don't go mad because the varnish can have a solvent action on some worktops. If it doesn't work the effect can be reversed by using some nail polish remover (acetone) - even more sparingly as it DOES have a definite solvent action. Another alternative might be to use a clear wax polish (the tin variety). The disadvantage of waxes is that they need to be renewed periodically. You're trying to disguise the damage, but also to seal the surface of the worktop so that a "tea stain scratch" does not develop.
