Hi all
Although I'm not at the screeding stage yet I am looking into it to be ready.
Firstly, I am getting underfloor heating (wet version) so this might make a difference to peoples opinions. Secondly, the room is going to be 40 square meters. Thirdly the screeding has to be 65mm deep. Fourthly, the screeding will be laid onto Celotex GA4075.
Like some other posts I have started on here when I haven't given all the information I hope this is enough information for you to make an informed opinion.
In no way shape or form am I willing to do the screeding myself. I fully understand that this has to be perfectly level and is one of the most important parts not to get wrong.
I have seen 2 different types of screeding. One in which a person puts down what I can only describe as a non liquid substance (I think it is cement and sand). Then he moves it about and levels it using a long piece of wood. The other is when a person has a pipe connected to a machine outside and then a liquid screed is pumped onto the floor and is left to set (apparently it takes a couple of millimeters per day to set).
So, here is the question..................
Can anyone tell me which is better? What are the advantages of both?
I have only had one quote so far for the liquid version and they want £1400+VAT. This includes everything from the product to the pump to the laser leveler (Apparently they use a laser level to make sure it is near as dammit perfectly level). I do like the idea of this system as I want it as level as possible but I'd like an opinion on both please.
