Hi

I have a 42" Samsung LCD flat screen TV, M/N : LE40F86BDX/XEU, version SS04.

For the last year or so, whenever it is turned on, the screen starts as partly visible (about20%) but the rest is dark and flickering. Initially, for the first few months, after about 10 minutes, the screen would get gradually clearer and eventually pop back into life and it would be OK for hours until you turned it off again.

However, in recent days, it fails to ever reach 100% clarity. It gets to about 70% at best with continual flickering, even after been left on for 2 hours.

I tried replacing the main central board (M/N SIP400C) that houses the power and what seemed to divert the power the screen, speakers etc with a reconditioned one. But unfortunately, that has not worked - the problem persists.

Q1) Anybody have an idea as to what the problem might be?

Q2) Anybody know of a reputable TV repair company in Derby, UK? I tried "TV Repairs R Us" but I can't get through on their phone.

Thanks

Since you have the reproducible and not intermittent symptom, and what doesn't work, can you get bids over the phone?
The maker may have a Technical Service Bulletin out on this problem, it saves troubleshooting time.

Depending on the age of your TV, this may be a normal and somewhat graceful failure mode.
