Hi,
I am currently fitting a new sink but need to ask a question about screwfix item number 29175 also please see attached photos.
On other jobs I’ve just completed I’ve put a JG pipe insert into the plastic pipe then pushed the pipe into the JG fitting.

Looking at my photos I need to remove the two fittings on the brass pipe. These will then be replaced using the JG inline coupler & a new length of pipe but the question is do I then just push the plastic pipe straight into the screwfix connector 29175 ?
I can’t use a pipe insert in the pipe as it won’t then push into the connector. These were going to be pushed onto the brass pipe but that’s now changed or is there another part I need to purchase ?

The Speedfit fittings push directly onto clean and straight copper pipe once youve removed those isolators.
John :)

Thanks but that part isn’t the issue.
So this is what I’m doing.
Remove those silver fittings.
Connect speed fit coupling.
Connect new pipe.
Now it’s this pipe that is the issue for when I connect to the tap connector.

Do I just put it in or is there something f else I need ?

29175 is a tap connector. One end screws onto the tap tail ,the other end is push fit for a copper pipe ,or a plastic pipe with an insert into the pipe.
Does that answer your question ?

Terryplum nearly.
I understand one end screws to the tap but the other end is my issue.
I can push the pipe straight into the fitting no problem and it seems to hold well if I try and pull it apart.
If I fit an insert into the pipe then I CANT push it into the fitting.

So do I just use the pipe WITHOUT an insert

The plastic pipe has to have an insert. There should be no reason why you can not insert the pipe ( complete with insert) into the fitting .post pic of pipe and insert separate ,and fitted together.

I agree if the fitting it’s pushing into is hollow BUT the fitting looks like it has its own male insert inside it.

This is why I can’t push this home.

Sounds like the fitting has an insert already inside  sometimes happens when the fitting is dismounted after use.
Try another one!
John :)

Those superseal inserts are fine for all JG push fit fittings ,but not compression fittings. There is no reason why it shouldn't go in. Lubricate with water and push in .

See photo.

Has this fitting been tried before?
Thats either an insert stuck in, or a new design Ive not seen.....
Any comments, Terry?
John :)

That shouldn't be there ! Have you tried to remove it ?
You may have a dodgy fitting . I have never seen any push fit fitting like that.
