Hello! I've put a 4mm screw into the middle of a newish brick and have been told that this will compromise the integrity of the brickwork and will cause damp. True or false? Thanks in advance!

where is the brick? sounds unlikely to cause any problems to me. How long is the screw?

Hi Jon. Its a downstairs wc and just a 4mm screw.

Can't see that being a problem. I suppose whoever told you that might have been suggesting that the hole could send water vapour through to the brickwork that will then possibly condense (depending on whether or not there is cavity insulation between the brick and the outside) and cause damp problems.

the neighbour - I've just moved into a new house and from the responses you guys have kindly provided, I think he's trying to be funny and not in the haha way :(
