We have aluminium bi-folding doors that have a 90 degree corner post. The problem is the centre door panel can open up and fold back on itself. A gust of wind would smash the handle into the glass, breaking it.

So we need to buy a descrete projection door stop that we can apply on the outside of the door along the top near the hinges, that should stop it before the handle meets the glass.

As these doors are expensive we are very reluctant to drill holes in. We'd break the seel, the waterproofing and do untold damage, while also damaging our waranty.

But I cannot find any "stick on" ones, so looking for ideas.

Any door stops fitted near the hinges have a tendency to distort or split the frames when excessive force is exerted upon them (such as gust of wind) due to the leverage. This is why door stops are always fitted near the end of the opening leaf. Surely the manufacturer has something to say about this? There are safe positions where you can drill into the frames of any doors. Why do you want fit the stop so near the hinge? So that it'll just be a short fella presumably rather than something longer than the handle projection?

Yes the idea was that the closer to the hinge the shorter it can be. But I suspect there is a compromise, where it distorts less.

So there really is no alternative but to screw this on?

if its near the other [outer end ] a shaped wooden block with double sided tape [2 thicknesses ] will normally serve the purpose
