Screws or Nails for Skirting?

If it's expanded, doesn't that create a larger gap?
Apply the adhesive and jam the skirting against the wall with weights or battens nailed to the floor, so it can't move while curing. Christ it's not rocket surgery. There is always a gap that needs to be filled anyway, so it hardly matters if it expands by a couple of mm.

Is it messier than the standard adhesives?
Not if you use an applicator gun.

No, adhesive becomes liquid when compressed unless there are any gaps which it fills, does not run like some adhesives.
