Sealing around the bath

Hi,

I currently have plastic coving round my bath to seal the edges from water. The problem is it's getting quite old now and I need to replace the material. I took a bit off the other day and found that underneath the bath has been sealed to the tiles with a big dollop of silicon sealant. I expect that the coving is just there for a nice finish?

Can anyone tell me where I can get this coving from? I tried B@Q the other day but the guy looked clueless!

I have seen you can buy such things from online stores but I'd rather get some this weekend and get it finished.

Don't bother with that plastic trim - it looks bad.
I suggest you remove the old sealant with a sharp chisel (very easy to do and should take about 15 mins). Clean and dry the area. Mask off a nice straight line (top and bottom of the joint) using either masking tape or electrical tape (electrical tape sticks to tile better than masking tape).
Fill the bath with cold water.
Apply a bead of sealant to the joint then run along the bead with your finger in one continuous movement.
Remove the tape as soon as you've done this.
You should now have a perfect seal around your bath that looks much neater and works better that that plastic trim.
Drain the water from the bath after a couiple of hours when the sealant has gone off.
