sealing bath to horizontal tiles

Hello all,

I've stripped the knackered silicone sealant from my bath and am having problems resealing. There's a row of horizontal tiles between the bath and the wall. So, looking from side and top to bottom you have: tile surface, few mm tile edge (unglazed), between 1 and 4 mm gap (with a slight indent below tile), bath rim. Pic below.

I can stick the sealant gun into the "corner" and put a line of sealant down but, once I've run my finger along it, this doesn't fully cover the unglazed edge of the tile, which I assume will absorb water and cause problems. There must be a way to do this with sealant as that is what was there before.

Any ideas would be much appreciated, I'm getting bored of using the shower at work.

I would love to help however I do not understand the first paragraph. The picture provides no further explanation of your problem. If you explained this more clearly I might be able to help you as I have extensive DIY knowledge.

Horizontal, tiled shelves next to a bath or in a shower are best avoided & are usually the first to fail, especially if ply has been used. Is there any chance you can silicone a tile edge trim under the tile lip? Even if you have to cut a bit off the base, it will still offer some protection. One should really have been fitted when the tiles were originally laid.
