Hi all a quick question if I may, do you recommend using PTFE or any form of sealing compound on the treads of a central heating pump when it is changed?

:D

Certainly it can't do any harm, but use non setting compound if you intend to. Make sure that new fibre washers are fitted too!

by threads i assume you mean pump unions, clean off the face of the union and fit new washers/gaskets apply a little boss white or jet blue and all will be well ;)

nope, jus clean the surface of the pump valves and fit new rubber washer's (norm supplied with a grundfos), the thread on the pump doesn't form any part of the seal

PTFE or a liquid form of lubricant on the threads will assist dismantling a few years down the line and the three foot stilson and 6 foot scaffolding pole can stay in the van.
