Hi,

I've been getting quotes in to replace my roof (mid terrace). The new tiles will match the new roof on my neighbours house but not the old smaller tiles on my other neighbours old roof.

Several roofers have recommended a secret gully that sits under my new tiles and the neighbours old tiles and the tiles are butted up.

I would like to know if this gully is a good idea or if I should stick with the old fashioned ridge tiles? Apparently there is no difference in cost. My main concern is if I get a problem with the gully then its a big job to fix it.

Thanks in advance,
Glenn

Ridge tiles are for ridges - and at a push , hips ;) go for the secret gutter - unless you`re surrounded by trees that drop leaves in Autumn wher it might get blocked . See what the roofers think here

The secret gutter makes a far neater job, years ago it was preformed in lead, its now done in glass fibre.
It has a slight upstand in the centre, if its tiled up tight you wont have any problems with leaves or blockages.
