I have a "slot" in the side of my fireplace (breast) which is floor2ceiling and abot 100mm wide, 200mm deep so quite narrow. I am trying to think of a way of making a set of cubbyholes which are concealed so I can put treasures etc. Something say like small draws with push release catches. It's such a tight space but ideal for what I want.

Using say kitchen cabinet draws and sizing them down means rather too much space taken up with the runners etc.

Any ideas on how to construct (even just a thought about how to start) very welcome.

How about a full height door in say mdf with concealed hinges such as are found on kitchen units and a push latch?
