Is there a specialist screw for doing such a job (ie plastic coated head so overtightening won`t crack the pot) or is a regular screw with a plastic cup and brass washer just as effective.
Sorry if it seems such a stupid question to ask :)

Thanks

Cheers for the reply Kev, just curious to know using this method would over tightening by any chance be able to crack the pot?

never managed it yet ;)

suppose it can be done

use a screwdriver not a drill and gan canny bonny lad ;)

Cheers once again, sorry for being a pain in the rear but are these washers available at places like screwfix and the like

Tee hee, giz a clue kev i`ve looked for em on s/fix`s website but I cant find the little beggars

Pack out the back of the brass screw with ptfe just enough that it creates a buffer washer between the pan and the screw will aloow you to tighten the screw without cracking

seen it done by an apprentice on a syphonic coloured suite  in a house that we were doing .........house cost £40k........but that was 1972  I blame the guv`nor for letting him near it .....I would have said no

A would guess most of us have done it in our illustrious careers .Nothing like a grinding cracking noise when you shoogle the pan to see if its secure .fairly cures the constipation and the wallet.
