Don't really have access to a worktop so is there any other methods for securing a vice? Needs to hold soft steel etc nothing heavy although needs to be secure as it needs drilling, filing and sawing.

Use a G cramp to hold the thing down - or buy a cheapo workmate type bench, and bolt your vice to that.

Could you find a few links for each? Im on my phone and struggling to even use this site never mind google stuff would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not bright enough to post pics or links but Screwfix 34235 is a typical cramp, and 15447 is a cheapo work bench.

You'd be surprised, really for what they are and cost! Bolt your vice on, close the work bench jaws, keep one foot on the step and away you go.
If you don't have space for the real thing, they do the job well. I keep one for metal / welding and one for clean stuff - which lives in the van.
