Securing decking support posts, three options

I want to build a raised decking to flatten out a slight slope. Which is the best method of fixing the posts:

1. Concrete the posts directly into the ground

2. Concrete in post fixings:

Won't the posts rot with option 1?

If the bring the concrete out of the ground then no.

The problem with timber posts rotting is when people stop the concrete short of the surface and then create a little trough for water to sit in.
