We have a Securitech Active 5 alarm which suddenly went off when in day mode the other evening. The tamper light was on. We have replaced the internal battery and glass fuse but system would not reset with our code. Eventually managed to reset panel with 0000 and reset our PIN however now the system will not arm when we leave the house. If we enter our PIN we get a continual sound from the panel which bleeps as the PIR by the door is triggered but once exit door is shut system just has continuous beep and doesn't set. Any ideas??

Did you reset system by shorting reset pin on PCB inside control panel ?
If you did you will need to completely reprogram the whole alarm system because all the zone programming will have been lost.
You say you replace the glass fuse ?
Do the detector led light up ?

Didn't knowingly short pin...once we connected the battery (with mains off) the alarm started sounding. Tried our PIN and alarm wouldn't stop, tried 0000 and it stopped. Then to do anything on panel it recognised code as 0000. We've changed the PIN to a personal code but alarm won't set when we exit. LEDs for the zones flash when PIRs are triggered or doors opened.

0000 is not the default user code
When you enter code to set what led's are lit up on the control panel if any ?

Need to no what is on display when setting
If all door contacts closed and no one is moving around then you should have no led's lit on control panel.if you do you have a fault?

Ok, so when door contacts closed and no PIRs activated there is just the mains and day mode lights on (which are always on)...enter code and just get a continual beep. On Home set the red leds were flashing on zone one (front / back door) and zone 2 hallway with a continual beep. Part set just a continual beep.

Possible problem with control panel?
You could try a total power down, remove battery and mains power
Now re apply power mains first then connect battery
That will re boot panel, enter code number to reset and press#
Now try
If same fault could be control panel faulty ?
Control panel from about 1995 ? Not made any more
You could replace with Texecom veritas 8 on board
