Send in the Marines!

The best thing about posting after 11pm is that notch's meds take a toll on him and he falls asleep at 10.30 so you dont have to put up with his xyz thinks this --xyz thinks that nonsense. But never fear he will be back at 6.30 am - such is his sad life.

aveatry thinks making jokes about someone's health is funny

We are not at martial law yet, thankfully. But once in place, the infrastructure of a police state can build on itself. Right now, our major bulwarks against Trump’s police state are the federal courts and broad-based peaceful protests

Thanks, that was very interesting. Combined with the other steps Trump is taking, such as sanctioning lawyers who help people bring cases against his administration, there are certainly reasons to be worried about where this is all heading.

As with most things in life, people are all for the things government do ... until said government does something that adversely impacts them ;)

I'm sure all the work-shy Brits will be more than happy to fill the low paid jobs the migrants currently do ...

If you saw all this in any other country — soldiers sent to crush dissent, union leaders arrested, opposition politicians threatened — it would be clear that autocracy had arrived.

This Saturday, on Trump’s birthday, he’s planning a giant military parade in Washington, ostensibly to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary. Tanks have been photographed en route to the city, the Lincoln Memorial standing tragically in the background, like an image from some Hollywood dystopia.

Interesting times.

As has been noted elsewhere - Trump pardoned the January 6th insurrectionists who did far worse than anything happening in LA.

What’s happening? Illegals don’t like being sent home? Tough tittie.
oh look, a Reform voter showing their nasty character.

The mask always slips eventually.

Mottie fully approves of Trumps thugs detaining people, shackling them, throwing them in jail, deporting them without due process or fair representation.

In America there are red states where over 50% of farm workers are immigrants….and since ICE has been around these people aren’t showing up to work.

Farms will start going bust because of it.

American workers won’t do those jobs

deporting them without due process or fair representation.
What due process or fair representation will be any good to them? They’re illegals and need to be sent back not bounced around while yuman rights lawyers get rich from taxpayers money for the same result. That just gives them false hope and increases their misery. Sooner they get back over that Rio Grande, the sooner they can get on with their lives.

Some of the people being rounded up are American citizens.

Some of them do have the legal right to be there, or cannot be deported. The government is trying to force them out before they can see a lawyer to prove it.

Then they’ll have to go without then, won't they. You went through it with tomatoes after Brexit (or so you claimed) and came out of it relatively unscathed apart from your inferiority complex.

That doesn't matter. The bedrock of democracy is the Rule of Law.

The bedrock of democracy is the Rule of Law.

Exactly that.

Trump's mistake is acting like a President with unlimited power, testing the rule of Law in the SC. Attempting to arrest a political opponent who's been critical of your policies is straying into dictatorship. Ironically, those MAGAs who voted for him wanted less Federal interference in their lives - they may cheer him on in this attempt to deport illegal immigrants but a man like him doesn't stop there.

you mean like the democrats tried with trump for 4 years to stop him being re-elected ?

Shìt happens. Nothing is perfect. Some people in the U.K. spend years and years in jail before being freed because they were never guilty in the first place. Should we stop sending people to prison because of that?

How many have been sent back in total and what percentage of them were sent back wrongly?
