Motor won't start on its own unless you manually twiddle it to get it going. Everything works fine until it reverses direction, then it won't start again unless you twiddle the motor shaft. Disconnecting the drum drive band makes no difference: you still have to twiddle the motor shaft to get the motor running. Motor shaft spins freely, so it isn't jammed.
