Sharpening breaker steels

Hi
Not really sure, but are there any special procedures to carry out when sharpening breaker steels?
Or is it just a case of putting a new edge on them using a bench grinder?

IIRC, the heat from grinding will soften the edge, and so you have to re-temper them. And oil is better for quenching than water

Take them to your local hire shop and they will send them to the forgery.

mine swap them for brand new ones for about half the price. tried doing them on a bench grinder, waste of time!

They don't need a sharp edge - they don't work like wood chisels do.

not as sharp as wood chisels, but theystill need a good edge to work more effectivly.
