I live in a modern house and want to remove the shaver/light socket on the wall in the bathroom. I have disconected it leaving 1 earth 2 neutral and 2 live wires. I have sealed off separately with insulation tape. However the lights upstairs no longer work. I assume that I have broken the circuit (no fuses blow). If I put back together the lights work again. How do I cap off the old wires (and lose them behind the plaster board) so I can have the lights working? Thanks

1 earth?!

are you sure there aren't two seperate earths in one peice of sleaving?

if you can get up in the loft the best thing to do would be to pull the cables out of the wall and join them with a junction box in the loft.
