Should Maggie Thatcher get a State funeral.

There is no one, other than Winnie, who would, for example, have taken the decision - as awful as it was necessary - to take on and sink the Belgrano.
State of the art submarine against a retreating ageing ship posing no threat...

Hard decision eh....

In the 20th century, other than Churchill, Thatcher was the only one who was unequivocal in her stance, said what she meant, meant what she said and then followed up
yes, I too remember plod's finest thugs making loadsa money beating up miners...

but you may be right - she followed her policies relentlessly resulting in the millions on the dole, failed public services, lining her cronies pockets...and so on!

One that none of the others would ever have had the balls to make, regardless.

And, of course, the miners themselves were perfect little angels, not terrorising those who did not want any part of it, were they now?

but you may be right - she followed her policies relentlessly resulting in the millions on the dole, failed public services, lining her cronies pockets...and so on!
Uhuh. And, if you are correct, the perceived alternative to this resulted in...? Dole queues increasing, failed, uber-expensive non-functioning public services, higher tax, payola, self-protectionism of their pensions after plundering the pots of the ordinary workers, fighting wars on two fronts that we can't afford and with little prospect of success, doom, gloom, failing businesses, property boom and bust, economy on the skids.....

I think she should have a state funeral but lets send her to another country and ask them to do it, which one would be best?

Or maybe others might have might have shown a bit more restraint and not used a callous act to further their own political ambitions!

Of course not...but then they didn't start it in the first place did they!!

Not alternative, since bliar and brown have just followed a whole raft of her policies (and indeed gone further in some respects), so the old left/right argument has become blurred given her creation of the 'f*ck you' type of country we now have!

yes , god save maggie, beat that headline grabing tw## scargil who had the miners at loggerheads with each other ,he then let the union split in two, so they lost the ill fated strike, them put all the blame on maggie , but were is he now, the miners got other work ,coal had ,had its day them , we can open cast mine now ,with a big hole left for landfill

go on tell me how good this labour load of dipsticks are , jobs gone to india & china, up to our ears in debt ,banks going bump, pension been stolen, jails full of eurocrooks, jobs full of people working for £5.80 per hour, tax all time high , etc.etc., were did it all go rigth when the torys left power, but it was all maggies fault.

It's precisely that their own political agendas are at the forefront that they wouldn't make such a decision. It was callous, but it was necessary: who knows what the toll of lives - on both sides - would have been, without it? A lot, lot more, for sure.

Of course not...but then they didn't start it in the first place did they!!
Erm, I think that you'll find that Scargill and his cronies did precisely that.

Classic "defence", so beloved of politicians, on either side of the fence. All the good things are our ideas; all the crappy ones are theirs, or were started by them. Liabour have squandered the nation's wealth, it's as simple as that.
