This should be an easy one:

If I was going to install a shower like this:

what would be the better connection to the shower?

This (or the straight version)

or this

The wall plate elbow (RH one) will give excellent support to the shower mixer bar, but you'll need to be very accurate with your measuring as you set them up.

Thanks John!

Given that the shower inlets need to be screwed in properly to the wall plate elbow, would ample PTFE allow me to adjust the inlets by about 1/8 turn? Or am I asking for leaks?

Water supply will be high pressure (mains/combi)

I used these to recently install a Triton shower which was very similar in layout.....I used PTFE tape and Jet blue sealant and got them as tight as I could. No leaks! I left things exposed for quite a while to make sure though. This was on a combi too.

Excellent news! - after further thought, I think I will be running the pipes horizonally through the wall into a loft space, so I may not be able to use the angled wall plate. Now this clearly buys me adjustment room, but is a tap connector with fibre washer more or less reliable than a 15mm x 1/2" coupling with PTFE? Or little difference?
