Shower extractor fan

My shower extractor fan comes on with the light switch. It's on a timer.
I find this annoying especially when I want a shower during day. I want the extractor fan to come on manually when I press the fan isolator switch.
How do I rewire it up so it doesn't come on with light switch?

Can you not turn light on in the day to trigger fan.
Might cost you 1p a week or less to run light.
To answer..
Pull the switch wire from fan.
Put the permanent live in the fan in the switch connector.
Fan will come on and off with isolation switch.
It's not a good idea tbh.
Better to add another pull switch for fan but don't expect others to turn on or off which is why it's currently wired to light.

Whats the correct way to do it?

If i turn the light on and off during day to trigger the fan, it's only stays on for about 7 mins due to the timer, which is not long enough.

Not answering the question, but the best way is to trigger a bathroom fan, from a PIR - they always then get triggered by anyone using the bathroom, day or night.

You don't need to "rewire it up so it doesn't come on with light switch"

What you need is an extra way to turn it on, even on those occasions when you refuse to use the light switch.

Are you annoyed by light, or are you under the impression that turning lights on is expensive?

I'm annoyed by the lights as it's really bright spotlights and have a few of them. Plus I have a large window which gives natural light

So add an additional momentary switch or button to start the timer.

...or try showering without the fan; you may find it is not necessary.
Open the window. It is not compulsory to use a fan.

I have lived in 7 houses, only one didn't have a window and only that one had a fan, all the others we have simply opened that piece of glass in a frame allowing fresh air in and damp air out. Simple.

FWIW my son and daughter have always opened the window since and switched the fan off, I've fitted fan isolators in 3 of their houses.
