My Daughter has just had a small WC enlarged and a new electric shower fitted (new downlights & fan also).
What certification should she expect from the Electrician?

It depends.

For the shower
Did the electrician run a new circuit for the shower to the fuse board? If its a new circuit then your shoudl get an Electrical Installation Certificate

If its just a pump and he extended an existing circuit then it should be a Minor Works Certificate.

He should also issue an MWC for the lights.

In addition he must notify the scheme he is registered with that he has done the work. His scheme will confirm to your Local Authority that the works complies with Building Regulations Part P. You should receive a Certificate of Completion from the scheme operator to confirm that this has been done.

All of the above documemntation is essential to avoid problems if/when the property is sold later.

Thanks for that.
A 6mm leaves the shower to an isolator in a small "cupboard room" off the new shower room. The cable then dissapears into the floor above.
A power shower in the bathroom above has been removed pending refitting that room, so I guess only a 2.5 or less was powering that pump (as the hot water came from the tank). The new shower there will have a remote pump.
Hopefully the Electrician has not coupled the new shower onto that cable!, so it ought to be a new circuit right back to the CU.
The same Plumber/Electrician will be refitting the bathroom in a month or two.
Would it be reasonable for the Certification to be delayed until this job is finished, so combined certificate(s) issued?
If so, should some of the payment for this job be witheld until full certification is received?
If the Electrician has already informed his scheme etc, how soon should the Certificate(s) be received?
Thanks.
