I don't have a shower hygiene problem :D !

But I do have an issue getting the hot water out of my shower. I have a mixer shower (brand unknown) which was only allowing a small amount of hot water through, resulting in a lukewarm shower. However, when i place my hand on the hot side of the shower tap, it is very hot so I know we have a problem getting the water through the shower system.

We had a plumber inspect the shower and he changed the hot and cold water valves around and the problem was fixed....or so we thought. He came back, started changing the pressures, replaced the shower incorrectly and now we have a torrent of cold water coming through.

Before I call this guy back to correctly fix my shower, what is the problem? If I need to replace the valves, are they a universal size? Is it a question of pressures, a blockage or was he correct in saying we needed a new shower?

I urgently require help as our house will shortly be going on the rental market and no-one wants to rent a house with a broken shower.

Thanks for your help in advance

Pingu
