Hi all.
I have an anchient electric shower a Redring plus 8x which today
decided to blow up.
Well it didn't blow up but it did lose pressure and started to pump water out of the back of the unit.
I've opened it up and the water seems to be being diverted through an escape reservoir or something ?
I suspect it's time for a new shower, are they easy to swap over ?
I fancy tackling it myself as I think it's just one plumbing connection and
the electrics, both of which I have in place from the old shower.
Any suggestions or guidance much appreciated.

Mike

Fairly straight forward, but do not attempt unless you fully appreciate the risks of working with electricity and water together. Make sure electricity is isolated at all times that you have anything potentially live exposed!

Main points are:-

1/ If you increase rating much above current level (8 kW?) you may overload the supply cable and/or MCB. If you're not clear about this, get electrician.

2/ Better to get a shower with water and electricity connections in same position (e.g. left side of shower) so that the shower will fit in more or less same position.

3/ Make sure electricity supply meets current regulations, which may mean RCD protection (?).
