Hi all,
My question is I have been told I need a universal whole house pump by Salamander tech guys, yet I have 630mm above the shower head and I thought this would be a positive head situation. I would appreciate some input thanks. Petesarn

Are you saying that the pump is above the shower head? Don't buy a Salamander, Stuart Turner Monsoon pumps are soooo much better

sorry for not making it clear, i have a gravity fed system with cold water tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in the master bedroom, the pump will be located next to the hot water cylinder. the distance between the base of the cold water tank in the loft and the head of the shower is 630mm, and I assumed that was a positive head situation and would buy a suitable pos. head pump. This is where I would like help to clarify which type of pump I do need as I said earlier I was told by Salamander techy guys I needed a universal pump so which is it. Thanks for replying.

630mm will give about 0.06 Bar static pressure at the shower head. Although it is a positive pressure, it might not generate the initial flow required to start a positive head pump.

Even if there is enough initial flow when it is first installed, a small accumulation of limescale in the shower head may reduce the flow, and stop it working very soon after installation.

If you were the pump manufacturer, which model would you recommend? the one that should work, or the one that WILL work?
