I lifted Ruabon 6" tiles to get access to two 15mm pipes which supplied a basin in the shower room.
I rerouted the pipes externally and now I have to infill and repair the floor.
The structure of the floor from top down is this:
Tiles
adhesive
thin concrete layer
compacted scree
concrete base
Water was leaking from the hot pipe for upto 3 months and draining to the corner I guess, where the waste from the upstairs toilet comes down.
So it is pretty damp but there was no sign of water in the house at all. So not sure whether to let it dry out and for how long?
What I am not sure about is:
1. What scree do I use and how to compact it in a narrow area maximum 6" wide channel. I could use what I extracted and perhaps wash it?
2. What to use for the thin concrete layer on top of the scree.
3. What adhesive and grout to use.
4. I broke some tiles on extraction, the ones that from the skirting. Ruabon have not made tiles for 2 years and only have some stock. Anyone know of any other sources.
