Shower screen seal - that tiny little gap!!

It's a poor design, the shower screen at my GF's house has the same problem.

Here's my (untried) suggestion - with the screen open, coat the plastic strip at the end with washing up liquid. Then close the screen & gun the gap in with white silicone. Leave the screen closed for 24 hours. The w/up liquid should prevent the sealant sticking to the strip & form a seal when the screen is closed again.

In theory.
