Shower too hot!

with the thermostat up to its highest and at its lowest , the temperature is the same

with the stop cock to the house turned off the shower doesnt work at all

That would seem to eliminate tank fed shower, but adds a boiler problem.
Are you sure you adjusted the dhw setting on the boiler and not the ch setting?

Hmmm, it was the only dial on the boiler and now you mention it, it probably is a ch thermostat. I'll put a pic up tomorrow so you can see it. Thanks

ben, i misread your earlier question a little!

with the dhw setting on it highest the shower temp changes quite considerably from its coldest point (where the water is warm but not too hot) to it hottest point (where the water is too hot to put my hand under for more than a couple of seconds).

I guess this means that there is some cold water coming through but not enough?

Sounds like it.
Could be a blocked filter, loose/broken washer/jumper, almost closed isolation valve.
