Shower too warm

Why would a shower like this still be too hot on its coolest setting there are 2 showers like this in the house and both too hot

Depends on whether they are manual or thermostatic. I'd be stripping them down with a view to servicing them 1st of all.

The head is clear. On the coldest setting it was 40 degrees c.

There is no make/model number on the shower. So can't view the instructions to see if there is a way of altering its range of temperatures. Any ideas?

Yup, though usually thermostatic valves, especially TMV2/3 are set to fail to cold.

There will be a mechanical stop set inside the temperature control knob if it's thermostatic, manual ones don't tend to have one by their very nature.

I'd still be stripping one down and taking a look, could also be a filter issue restricting the cold.

1. If it has a button on the temperature regulating handle that you press in to get a "hotter than normal" shower, then it will almost certainly have and adjustable maximum temperature.
2. The adjustment normally takes the form of setting the temperature to that you require, 38 degrees being the "norm". You then remove a part, usually on a spline fitting, and set it so that the stop in the temperature handle is up against another stop on the splined fitting.
3. Unfortunately, there are endless variations on the arrangement. If you can put up some clear photographs of the temperature control with the handle removed, we might be able to advise you better.
4. You might send clear photographs of the shower intact, and with the temperature control handle off, to showerdoc.com and see if they can identify the shower for you.
