Shower tray cracked after 4 months

I've never drilled in to a shower tray, normally just sit any screens on to the tray and silicone it. The rest of the screen is held against the wall by whatever comes with it usually a aluminium polished chanel. At the bottom I usually silicone both sides ....they never move and they're solidly fixed.

I was suprised to see your installation instructions showing what I have to agree is drilling in to the tray. I'd have paused over that !!!!!!! Not your fault.

Yes I always avoid fitting any sort of expansion fixing into any sort of cast porcelain/ceramic/resin etc. they are designed to take pressure on the surfaces and any sort of internal expansion force and will crack it eventually. When fixing things into bathroom walls/floor, I always drill through the covering, and secure to the substrate.
