Yes, a piece of trunking with the self adhesive strip is what I would be looking for and a little silicone around the top and bottom just to seal the entries. If it's in the trunking then it wouldn't need the clips.
Just for the sake of discussion, as twin & earth cable isn't considered to be double insulated; would 412.2.4 require mechanical protection from trunking to supplement the basic insulation?
And is it now not an issue, with the sheathed earth T&E now available?

It's a cheap and nasty installation. Cable should be clipped, but not being so isn't likely to affect anything.
Trunking might look neater but changes nothing in terms of safety.
It's also an electric shower so the whole lot is a cheap and nasty installation and always will be, regardless of how it was installed.
