Right then, managed to get a free thermostatic shower valve :D from the in laws which I need to install. It'll be supplied off the mains cold and new combi boiler after getting a new water pipe run through.

The question I have is that the instructions seem to suggest that the valve (which is a fair old weight) is supported on just the pipework and doesn't have any other fixing.

This is the unit:

Does this sound right?

I'm removing the old electric unit and running a new hot feed to supply the shower but surely a noggin or similar to support the pipe in the wall would be sensible?

As the wall is already in place I'd like to use poly pipe as it'd be easier to get up and around but would the flex make this unwise or would the copper pipe through the wall be enough to support it?

Grateful for any input.

triton do them and screwfix do the triton ones.

are you coming in from the back of the wall as in from a airing cupboard or up inside the stud wall ?

Seco

Up inside the wall, taking a tile off the front and popping through the aquapanel. Awkward I know! Looking at the Deva schematics I don't think it'll marry up with the triton one very neatly. The one's in the picture would be ideal. Any idea who makes them?

Just noticed that Deva (the shower manufacturer) does one at £85! Not such a free shower. Their's stays exposed but behind the bar and looks chromed up so would make the proposed installation easier.

trouble with pushing pipes up the stud wall is you may hit noggins and won't get the pipe up inside.

Fortunately I built the wall and know where the noggins are (i think!).

Aquapanel is already on the wall and has been for three years!

Thanks folks

PTS sell the bristan Bar mixer mounts for £20 + VAT, over the counter item.

I prefer Shower PL8's though
