Right then, managed to get a free thermostatic shower valve
from the in laws which I need to install. It'll be supplied off the mains cold and new combi boiler after getting a new water pipe run through.
The question I have is that the instructions seem to suggest that the valve (which is a fair old weight) is supported on just the pipework and doesn't have any other fixing.
This is the unit:

Does this sound right?
I'm removing the old electric unit and running a new hot feed to supply the shower but surely a noggin or similar to support the pipe in the wall would be sensible?
As the wall is already in place I'd like to use poly pipe as it'd be easier to get up and around but would the flex make this unwise or would the copper pipe through the wall be enough to support it?
Grateful for any input.
