Hi All hope someone can help me
I am trying to fit a new shower and need some advice on the fittings I need regarding plumbing. Currently I have the previous waste pipe which is a 40mm and I have the trap on the show which is also a 40mm. What I need is a flexi which is around 400mm in length which has a 40mm fitting on each end.
I bought what I thought was correct which was a Flomasta Flexible Waste Pipe White 40mm 320-720mm but this one has a plain spigot on one end and it is too small.
Is there something I can buy that has to the 40mm on each end that is that long?
Is there something I can maybe put on the plain spigot end that will allow me to connect it to the waste?
Help

Can I suggest that you really try to avoid using a flexi pipe on a shower waste. They are know to cause all sorts of problems further down the line with sagging and restrictions.

I bought 2 couplers 40mm and 32mm in the hope that one of these will fit properly and I am at a loss.
The actual end of the flexi (I know I shouldn't but I really have to here) is what I have measured at 38mm, this is the blank spigot end.
Does anyone know what I need to buy here to be able to connect this up? I have attached two photos one of the blank spigot which is 38mm and the bit that it needs to go into. I was hoping that it would fit directly in but clearly not.
Help please

That compression end of the trap should be a universal 40mm. How are you trying to fit it?

Take plastic nut off the fitting and then the washer and black rubber fluted seal.

Put the nut on the spigot end of the flexi, then the plastic washer and then the black seal, with the fluted end towards the fitting, then fit all that into the coupler and tighten it all up. The spigot end should then be grabbed nice and tight.

Yeah so I have placed the plastic nut and washer on the spigot and the black seal and done all that, I'll try again, sounds like I'm doing it right, just doesn't seem to want to grab

Does the end of the flexi push into the fitting ok, i.e., does it fit?

Flexi appears to fit fine, if I were to do the nut up without the flexi in it, it seems to go in fine.
I have attached a pic of what it looks like when I push the flexi in, I think its because the black seal is sitting proud?

I really don't see a problem. Can you not get the nut on the threads?

Does the nut fit over the washer when the pipe isn't in the fitting? Again, it looks just how I'd expect it to look.

Yes, when there is no pipe it's fine, I have managed to get it on, over a few threads and gave it a reasonably hard pull and it all stayed together. I think the trap must have crappy threads I think, anyway. Next weekend will test it with water as I need to pop out, hopefully it will hold

Never take a chance, the nut should happily screw onto the fitting to at least 1/2 of the thread depth.

If the rubber seal doesn't fit into the nut when the it's on the end of the flexi then get a little silicone grease or soap and coat the rubber seal and spigot end and then put it all back onto the end of the flexi and push/tease the seal down into the nut using your fingers and then a plain screwdriver or the handle end of a spoon/fork until it gets to the bottom on the nut and then connect to the fitting when it's off the trap, it should go in with some fettling/persuasion.
