shower wiring

hi just wondering if you could put me mind at rest(hopefully).
the shower in the ensuite - the cable and pipe are next to each other in the studded wall,they are touching..the cold water pipe is copper then pushfit pipe the cable sheath is in perfect condition.....are there any safety issues here?

Generally it's not good to have pipes beside wires. Lazy fitters have done 1 x hole for both services.

It's unfortunate, but since its not a hot water or hot heating pipe the prospect of cable damage due to heat radaition is none existant.

Hopefully the main water is earth bonded in the property, so should a fault ever surface then there's the safety of live running off to earth due to the bonding.

yeah the main water line coming into property is earth bonded.and as you say the water pipe is cold only so won`t cause any heat to damage cable sheath....

Well, slang it may well be but M8 could also refer to a specification.

It could be a cable installation method. It also could be relating to the short circuit capacity of the protective device that I was asking about.

You often see M1, M1.5, M3, M6, etc etc on BS3871 circuit breakers.
