You are a master bater Joe and more slippery than Cable, Cleggy and Dave put together.

2.6 million are unemployed so what jobs exactly are all these disabled people going to do, especially when lots of qualified and young people can't find work?

You are missing the point. These new test are to get people off non-means tested benefits onto means tested benefits. That means if a partner is working they'll get zilch. Disabled people aren't really expected to get a job.

If they qualify they'll still get it. If not they have to go on Jobseekers allowance - but their savings will be taken into account.

Well said Joe - That is exactly the point - and not just working partners - Pension income of partners /carers .

Don't kid yourself. All benefits will be scrapped in favour of a 'universal benefit'. Would you like a wager that it will be means tested?

From a quick Google search;

Yes, it is means tested, but only after the first six months. For the first six months you can usually get non-means tested JSA based on your National Insurance contributions. You are allowed this therefore if you have a redundancy payment or any other savings, or if you have a working spouse.
This tells you more and how to claim, the most usual way now is to begin the claim by telephone or online.

It looks like it is already.

Also shoots down most of your argument from the look of it.

What argument is that? Either it's means tested or its not. The thing is that to claim disability you must be severely disabled - and 90% of current claimants aren't. Therefore it'll save billions.

What makes new laugh is when people talk about saving money, cuts etc they often seem to think that the affected people will simply just disappear .

They never do, they just start costing you more in hospital admissions, criminal justice, anti social behavior etc etc

If you take away peoples support, they often go into decline and then meet the high needs criteria at a higher cost than what they were getting.

There are lots of doleys out there who need to get off their lazy bums but this has fail written all over it

The option is to follow Greece and Italy down the gurgle. So what do you propose to stop this happening?

Joe, you talk right out of your @rse. It isn't 90% of claimants that are not disabled. It's abouit 95% of claimants that have been assessed by ATOS , as being able to work. (there's a big difference between being disabled and being able to work)
The ATOS assessment does not involve a doctor. It involves an interviewer reading from a script, designed to ensure that no pertinent medical questions are asked at all. Absolute *******s.
Years ago I used to help look after a blind lady, who was assessed by Social Security as to whether she could have a home help. A young lad turned up and asked her to make a cup of tea. She managed to overfill an electric kettle, boil it and pour boiling water into a cup until it overflowed. She then put in milk (again overflowing) I tried to intervene but was told I couldn't) Anyone with half a brain could see she was putting herself at risk of being scalded, but no I couldn't even tell her when the kettle or cup was full. After she had "made" the cup of tea, I asked the young man if he'd clean up the worktop and floor. "Oh no I'm only here to do the assessment. You can do that after I've gone."
Needless to say she was assessed as having no need for any help at home.

Having said that, I'm sure that you would like a return to the "workhouse " of Victorian times. You show no sympathy (nor empathy) for anyone.
PS as for your earlier reply asking why my partner should claim anything at all for her disability, I can tell you that she worked full time for almost 40 yrs before her illness rendered her unable to work. So 40yrs worth of contribution to the economy of this country counts for nothing? I sincerely hope that when you come to retirement age, that the old age pension has been scrapped, your payments into the system count for absolutely nothing and you don't receive a penny off the government to see you through to your death. I too hope your private or company pension is further reduced through taxation to take you into poverty level. A more fitting end to your life, there could not be.
