Siemens Lady Dishwasher -element remains hot when finished

Hi,

The dishwasher works fine in that it cleans the stuff in it, but then the big heating element at the bottom remains boiling hot. I only noticed this after the cycle finished and I could smell a slight burning metallic smell and then checked the element by dripping water on it.

Any ideas?

Does it stay that way forever ?
The elements stay that way at the end of the wash cycle to act as the final drying cycle, so if your opening it up straight after its finished, that will be the case. Best keep it closed until it cools to maximise the heat for drying.
