Siemens RDE100.1 DHW to Hive heating thermostat wiring

Hi all,
I am planning to replace the current thermostat (a Siemens RDE100.1 DHW) to a Hive smart thermostat.

The current wiring on the Siemens is attached, it controls both the heating as well as the hot water (have a separate hot water tank upstairs). However I am confused about how the existing wires will be connected to the hive thermostat. Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

The Siemens device is battery operated, the Hive requires a mains supply. This will need extra wires between boiler and Hive,

Depending on the boiler the control circuits may be 24 Volt DC ( not 230 Volt AC ). the dual channel Hive connects the control circuits to 230 Volts AC

If the boiler has 24 Volt controls then connecting the dual channel Hive will damage the PCB in the boiler.

I think this change of thermostat is not as straight forward as I had initially thought. I feel it needs to be professionally done as I have no clue about the additional wiring required between the boiler (Baxi Assure 15 system) and hive thermostat. Appreciate your response though .

I think you need to establish if the grey wire is neutral or not, looking at the instructions, it could be.

The Grey is a switched Live ( or 24Volt ) control input to the boiler. The Black is the other switched control input

Yes, the instructions make it as clear as mud that it’s a switched live, read it too quick I don’t know why they have to state it’s a neutral conductor
