Hello,
We've had our CH boiler about 6 years and it's connected to a Siemens RDJ10RF remote thermostat/timer.

After about 3 years the receiver on this unit died and so we replaced it with an identical unit, but last night when I switched on the power to the boiler this replacement also failed with a loud pop.

It sounds like the power regulator circuit just self destructed!

I always thought Siemens was a reliable brand, but am getting the impression this is a cheap, nasty piece of kit having had two fail in a relatively short time.

Does anyone have experience of this unit and agree?

Could you recommend a similar reliable unit I should buy as a replacement? Not Siemens this time!

Thanks for your advice
Robin

Could it be a wiring fault, causing arcing or a short? We have literally hundreds of these in our properties (local HA) and only changed a handful of receivers. They’ve been in for approx 9-13 years depending when the boilers were installed. We have the more basic rdh100, but receiver is the same.
