Silent Traditional Kitchen Extractor

Can anyone recommend one of the units like they had in the 90s which were almost silent at lower setting.
All the modern units with exposed steel colums above them are extremely noise and even the so called quiet range are 50db or something ridiculous. And then they have added £2000 units which is f n ridiculous.
The old ones were perfect.
Anyone still do something like that ?

There are quiet passive extractors but these are unlikely to provide the litres per minute extraction required.

You know I got a manrose "Quiet Extractor" the other day it's better than the last unit but its just a piece of plastic with a motor. Not much effort has been made. They don't even put a rubber gasket on so no doubt often they make the plastboards vibrate a lot. I put a foam gasket on probably reduces 75% of the sound at 2m.
Zero effort made.
I get the sense nobody really cares apart from troublemakers.

I suspect that you are talking about hob extractor hoods rather than extractor fans. I might be wrong though given that you then mention your Manrose fan.

A friend was annoyed about the nose that his stainless hood made so he sourced fire resistant pads that he could glue to the inner part of the unit to dampen the noise- he claims it helped.
