Hi All,
I am after a simple \ Cheap Drill guide, the reason that I want this is that I have problems drilling straight, so I think I want something like:-

But I want something cheap and simple, I was wondering if i would get away with must using a spring? Obvioulsy it would need to be bigger than the chuck, would it work? I guess I could by one somewhere (not sure where?) and try it, alternatively a cheaper version of:-

Thanks

Steve

Thanks for the reply.
At the weekend I had to fit a new door, the main problem is drilling a hole (@25 mm) in the side of the door to install the latch, and in the door for the Spindle for the handle, all though getting that square \ level isn't so bad.

Our local LIDL were doing cheap drill stands (with a hole in the bottom, so you could drill through) for under a tenner recently. Another alternative might be a router and bit if you have a router

I read somewhere that if you put a washer over the drill bit (so it's free to spin) it'll tell you whether or not you're drilling level or not by it moving backwards or forwards on the drill bit. Never tried it though.

i actualy bought a drill stand at lidl some time ago and if its the same one it wont be any good for drilling via the hole in the base as the base is about 18mm thick and the drill is restricted to 50mm depth of travel
