I had two lights in a bedroom - one overhead and one above a sink. Both lights operated on a manual two switch. The sink light was removed completely.

I need to change the main fascia to a Georgian brass push down switch. Currently wired to two push down switch. There are two wires only - red and black. The new manual switch I have, is I believe called, a two way switch. Problem is that there are three terminals inside and I only have two wires.

Which two connectors do I put in the two wires please.

Many thanks!!!
Jacqui

It goes in the same as the old switch was wired.
The red wire goes to the Common, sometimes shown as ~.
The black wire (which should have a red sleeve on it to indicate that it is a switch-live wire), goes to L1.

If it is a metal switch it MUST be earthed.

If there is no earth wire at the switch then you should not be fitting a metal switch there.
