I don't want an AI type, do everything gadget. Just something that will get my underfloor heating going prior to me getting to the property well in advance?
Hive and Nest look too expensive and swanky for my liking, I just need a web connected switch to start up my system six hours before I turn up?

There are ones from Hong Kong on Ebay for under £20, never used one so cant say if they are any good or not, but for all you want might be worth a punt

Sonoff basic for about £5? How does the underfloor heating get a feed to turn on?

The sonoff basic will switch its live and neutral onto something.
Or there is the shelly 1 that has a volt free contact...

No? Just a 2.4ghz wifi connection. You can control them via google home/alexa if you wish...

So what plugs into the ethernet port on the router as transmitter ?
I have just watched the video on these on youtube and it doesnt show any direct connection to the router, guess it works like nest E and you just link it to your smart phone and it finds the wifi signal via the app

The Velleman kits connect directly onto the telephone line or use a cheap mobile phone with a PAYG sim.

Would a WiFi smart plug work? I use a couple in my workshop to turn the heaters on when I’m on my way to work.
