Simple job but spark says it could get expensive

I asked him about bonding JohnD and he said no point until I've sorted out the plumbing, cos all the pipes are being pulled out and rearranged. He's on the competent person site so I assumed he knew what he was talking about.

Somehow I don't think my white Ikea flannel dressing gown would've swayed his decision making  (not that I was actually wearing it at the time!)

£30 flipping heck it must be an on the way home job & he lives up the same street as you.

What was the brief you gave ?
If it was just to remove the old cables & move switch, assuming all bonding in bathroom is upto scratch + equi bond ok then I'd not do it for less than £50, unless it was an on the way home job then maybe £45.

Actually all three sparks have said that there is no need to remove the cables just put a junction box (maybe that is the wrong word!) on them and place them under the floorboards.

So the only job they are quoting for is to join up the lighting cables from the light in the room we knocked into to the existing bathroom light pull and move one of the lights a couple of inches to one side.

Actually he lives round the corner so he could do it on the way home :D

Ok (make sure it's an enclosed termination & not just chock blocks stuffed under the floor) might be advisable to lable the JB for future refrence.

Not a difficult task, just the bonding to worry about if it's not there already,

As I said theres the reason for the £30, but make sure you get the minor works cert in that price.

Junction box under the floorboards? OK if the cables are dead (disconnected at the supply end) but not OK if they are still live.

If you say you weren't even wearing your dressing gown, that might have influenced his willingness. Have some beer in the fridge and a hot pie ready.
