Hi all,

Friend has a powermax 155, and he reports that in the morning when the system fires up a really high pitched singing noise eminates from the boiler for about 20 mins then disappears miraculously. Can anyone give us a clue before we call out the specialists.

It also happens in the evening on start-up as well. Any checks that need to be done, the water delivery and CH work fine by the way :)

Many thanks, in anticipation,

:)

possible gas valve needs adjusting/replacing + new baffles if more than 5 years old, also fan bearings may be on the way out . search data base for powermax.

I note that you are in Italy!

As you know the Italians are very keen on singing, particulary opera.

Perhaps your friend's boiler has learnt some local habits?

You could try setting the control panel language back to English and it might then become more reserved and stop singing.

If is is not a mechanical noise - Singing is an early sign of furring up - just ensure the inhibitor is topped up or renewed. After a while the new inhibitor should clear the build-up. Otherwise it may need a de-scale and flush out of the boiler.
