Hi i am wireing in a single oven am i right in saying that if my oven is rated at 13A then i can wire it in to a 20A double pole switch in 6mm cable and then from the switch 2.5 mm cable to the nearest socket outlet or does it need a dedicated circuite to the DB?

You could do that, however good luck getting 6mm into the terminals on the oven, as they will probably be too small.
2.5mm cable could be used throughout, provided the 'nearest socket outlet' is part of a 32A ring or a 20A radial circuit.
Either way this is notifiable.

A much easier and quicker way is to attach a flex and 13A plug, and simply plug into the nearest socket. Not notifiable either.
