Sitting board edges on the membrane?

The (4m long) stud sole is fixed thru the membrane, the fixing holes are sealed.

Is it wiser to fix the lower horiz. boards raised up slightly, off the membrane to prevent membrane damage? Or do boards need support along the lower edge, provided by the floor?

Best to have a bit of clearance between board and floor, if your floor isn't dead level you'll start having problems with joints missing battens/noggins & having to trim out of square.If you've used 4 x 2 as your sole plate then leave 20mm clearance & you've still got 25mm or so to screw into. Skirting board will cover whatever gap you end up leaving

You must honor the horizontal joins, the cut must always be at the bottom edge (on the sole plate in studding) no matter if the floor goes up and own, you cut to accommodate it and honor the level join in all runs.
